COUNTDOWN: ARMAGEDDON
In cities across the globe, millions of people disintegrate into nothing.
Some scientists theorize that terrorists have set off a kind of neutron bomb, others blame global warming and the exposure to solar radiation, still others point to some new and unknown plague. Panic spreads through the remaining population.
In the Middle East, WNN reporter Allison Thompson is covering the crisis as the tensions rise among the region’s governments. Skirmishes begin on the Israeli border and rumors of war spread across the region.
Meanwhile, in the United States, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are diverting the resources and weakening the infrastructure of the super power.
The new General Secretary of the UN, Adrien Honore Romano, is determined to diffuse the situation and uses his charisma and diplomatic skills to broker a peace between Israel and her Arab neighbors.
Throughout the world, droughts, famines, and other catastrophes further decimate the population and most governments, unable to restore order and provide assistance, collapse. War and anarchy reign over much of the planet, while the Middle East seems to be a haven of safety and reason. Allison interviews Romano, who argues that the time for one world government has come, and names himself the leader of this new regime.
Allison is approached by a mysterious freedom fighter, who calls himself a Watcher, who warns her about Romano and his plans for world domination. Soon, Allison’s fears are realized as Romano institutes martial law, mandatory identification chips for all citizens, and the torture and murder of any people who oppose his rule.
When Allison tries to report the atrocities, agents of Romano come after her. But the Watchers rescue her and tell her that there are still some opposed to him who are preparing for battle. Allison agrees to join the fight.
When opposing armies attack from the south and north, Romano uses nuclear weapons against them. It appears that he is unstoppable.
From inside Jerusalem, Allison and the Watchers are able to use guerilla tactics to distract Romano’s forces, allowing other forces to move in and attack. After a bloody and brutal world war, Romano and his armies are finally destroyed.
